Back in the day, it was completely normal not to have a cell phone when you were in high school. Now, it seems that kids are getting cell phones at ridiculous ages, and they don't even need them yet. I got my cell phone in 7th grade, when I started walking home from school by myself and stuff, and even now I barely use it. Just to check in with my mom here and there, and that's about it. Now tell me, what do these 4th graders need a cell phone for? Most 4th graders aren't allowed to go anywhere by themselves anyway, so what's the point? There is not one person in junior high that doesn't already have a phone. Maybe it's just because they seem cool to have, since all the older kids have them too. They make you feel a little older, I suppose. The thing is though, once you buy a cool phone that everyone has & you have it for a while, you get tired of it, and want a new one. You find this really cool expensive one, and you HAVE to have it. Then in a couple months, a cooler phone comes out, and it'll keep going that way forever. It's pretty much a competition as to who has the coolest, newest phone now, when most kids don't need it- they just want to show it off, act all cool, get it out of their system. I was satisfied with my pink RAZR when it was "in", then came along the sidekick, and of course, I had to have it. Turns out, the more expensive the phone, the crappier they are usually. That's because it's loaded with stuff you don't need in a phone, or you can get from other places. Like the internet or email or.. it's called a computer, or an music player. Almost everyone has an ipod or mp3 player these days, so why do you need another one in your phone? The thing that I don't get the most though, is instant messaging. Why not just TEXT if that's why you've got a phone?! Why do you have to instant message too? Most of these "special features" that you don't need cost extra money anyway. I bought the Sidekick iD, and the very intelligent (haha) people at t-mobile didn't tell me that almost all of the features the phone provides, you have to pay for. I can't store images in my phone, because I can't receive picture messages without internet, because you have to send it to the email on the phone! I know some people prefer to have all of their electronics in one handy machine, and for those who travel alot, it's mighty helpful. But for everyday use, I think it's a waste of money.
I got a dog about a year ago, and I couldn't love her more. My dad never wanted a dog because he's a neat-freak and would never allow an animal into the house. That day when my mom talked him into it was the best day of my life. Now my dad loves her just as much as my mom and I do. For all of you adults out there, don't be afraid to add a new member of the family. You might think it takes a lot of energy and this and that but those are all just excuses because you're scared. You'll fall in love with your new pet as soon as you look into its eyes! I don't get why some people despise cats and refer to themselves as a "dog person". They're both adorable, and clearly I'm a "cat & dog person". But why isn't there a "rabbit person" or a "turtle person"? They're house pets too. That's just something that's always been in the back of my mind. So here's a question for you to answer in a comment on this entry:
What kind of "person" are you? (dog person, cat person, turtle person)
One of the top bands around the world now. I'd say they have some pretty incredible fans. All their popularity came from the fans! Do you remember when they went on tour with them about a year ago, and nobody knew who they were. Boy, they've sure come a long way in such a short time, don't you think? I personally despise them for their popularity, but I also wish them good luck with their career. They must be feeling pretty good, and I know that they've worked hard. Many people have stated that it was Miley Cyrus that made them famous, and I mean, it is partly true. No one knew them before they went on tour with her & Miley and 16 year old Nick Jonas, the youngest of the bros, started going out. After they broke up, it was said that her song "7 things" was written as a stab at him. I think that was rude, and they didn't deserve that. Something that I found interesting that I haven't heard of a celebrity doing often is wearing a promise ring. I think that's very pure, religious, and responsible of them! People often mock the Joe Bros for wearing them. Such as Russell Brand at the recent VMA's. Jordin Sparks defended them, though, saying "I just have one thing to say
about promise rings. It’s not bad to wear a promise ring, because not
everybody – guy or girl – wants to be a slut". Way to go, Jordin! After that, of course, Russell Brand apologized.
Has you free trial on a program expired? I'm talking about programs such as Miscrosoft Office & such. If you recently got a new laptop (In the last 3-4 years) and your free trial expired on Microsoft Office, and you really like it, but don't like the huge price tag of the full version, I have a tip for you. Once your trial expires, you can't use all of the features, but what if I told you, you can still get all of the features... for free? All you have to do is find out when your trial expired, the exact date. Usually you can find out by opening Microsoft Word, and a box will pop up, stating the date it expired. Then close all of it. What you need to do is change your computer date, usually located in the bottom right corner of your screen. Right-click on your time down there, and then click "Adjust Date/Time". Then set your date to a couple of weeks before your trial expired. Be sure to get the year right too! The time doesn't matter, but be sure to get the month, day, and year before your trial expired. Then you can open Microsoft Office and use it's full features. This doesn't only work on Microsoft Office! It works for any expired trial of any program! If you have any questions, just ask!
I've recently noticed that there is a lot of awareness of cancer rising, and I have to say, I'm extremely happy about it. I was diagnosed with cancer a year ago, and when I started treatment, there was only talk about breast cancer. Now, don't get me wrong, breast cancer is bad, but I felt kind of bad, because it's not the only deadly cancer out there. I used to go to the hospital every week, and to see all these little kids with no hair, and to know that their all fighting for their lives, it was a little overwhelming. I realized that a lot more people have cancer than I thought. For those of you out there that have been touched by cancer, you may know what I'm talking about. To those who cancer is a foreign word to, it's unbelievable to think about everyone fighting, especially if you've seen it up front & personal. Yesterday, I was walking in Bath & Beyond, and see a product that said CancerVixen, and it made me really happy, because I know that all of this is going to raise awareness, and hopefully, someone will make finding a cure their primary goal. Also, more people will be aware that hundreds of people around them are suffering while they have it so easy! Some of these things just make me so angry!
